MiniTool Power Data Recovery Boot Disk offers an effective solution to recover lost or deleted files and folders. What makes this application really special is an ability to retrieve data, even if the operating system has crashed and you can't open your computer normally. Unlike most applications that run on Windows, this particular tool boots from disk or USB flash drive in order to recover the information you are looking for.
The program opens with a primary interface that assists you in creating a boot disk or stick drive. The procedure may seem complicated to inexperienced users, but a small wizard will give you the proper assistance to complete the task. After booting, you should take your time and wait until a second, more familiar interface appears on the screen. It is worth waiting since it is the only way to retrieve data from a damaged system. Once the new window is displayed, you will notice four recovery modes, which perform a more or less thorough scan looking for the files/folders you lost.
The first section, Undelete Recovery, is designed to recover the files and folders you wiped out from your computer, including from the Recycle Bin. The program detects the computer drives automatically and scans the selected partitions. When the scanning process ends, you are able to look for specific files by means of a smart searching engine. What's great about this function is that you are not limited to looking exclusively for items' names. Instead, you can enable advanced filters, such as the creation date or the size of the files or folders. Once they are retrieved, the app allows you to preview the content.
The missing data of a reformatted drive can also be recovered. The Damaged Partition Recovery mode seems to be a more powerful version of the first recovery module, since it performs a detailed search that takes into account the files category. This way, the scanning can be restricted to media files, archives, images, or e-mails – to name but a few. The only condition is that the partition does exist, even if it is severely damaged. However, you shouldn't worry even if the partition is missing, as in such a situation the third section comes into play. The Lost Partition Recovery module initiates a quick scan at first in order to find the deleted partitions, and if no results are found, it enables a much deeper search in full scan mode. Once the partition is recovered, the recovery of the files implies following the same steps mentioned a few lines above.
The last section is specialized in retrieving media files from digital devices, such as mobile phones, flash drives, digital cameras, memory cards, and so on. You can filter the search by selecting the type of files you are looking for. No matter if you choose to recover images or graphics, audio or video files, documents, etc., you can preview them all before saving them back to your computer.
The program is good and I truly recommend it, since it really recovers the files and folders you lost under different circumstances. The fact that it can run under the Windows platform makes it more reliable and appealing. I also like that you are able to switch between the scanning modes and find the results intact when returning to the section you abandoned a few moments before. Still, I advise you to install the program and learn what it is capable of prior to facing a damaged system. The reason is that it doesn't come with an offline Help, so the online support that seems to be provided is useless if you run the app from BIOS.
